Manifesto of ComSynth

S.D.S

Comrades,
this album is dedicated to the history of communism, it is also the first communist album which is dungeon synth or synth in general.
This new genre is called ComSynth.

Each track deals with a person, from Marx to Mao.

This time is short, climate change is taking us by surprise, the New World Order is forming and the West is rearming, wages are stagnating and declining and more and more people are starving around the world.
Therefore, proletarians, we must fight as an international class and not with the bourgeoisie against other countries.

Proletarians of the whole world, unite!

Vietnam, Palestine Syria Iran and Iraq, the USA and its allies always have their willies in the game.
These fucking imperialist bastards with their fucking capitalism can go fuck themselves!
Praise be to the resistance, in Palestine, Rojava and the FRG!

This song is inspired by our strong comrade, Margot Honecker.
Rest in Peace, and thank you for your service to the people!
lyrics
Our time is a fighting time, it needs a youth that can fight, that wants to strengthen socialism, that stands up for it, that defends it, if necessary with a weapon in its hand

Mountains Redux

Here lies a majestic ensemble of epic mournful ambient music evocative of desolate and wyrdful landscapes brimming with dazzling nature, untainted and disinfected of human tampering. The ancient mystery of melodious and simple keyboard passages is marvelously intertwined with folk overtones and martial-like patterns enriching the record as a whole, creating a deeper and meaningful experience. Harmonious yet dark and somber, this enchanting opus carries the ingredients to entice devotees of genuinely atmospheric music, intense and authentic. This ambient is perfectly portrayed in the artwork, an original by Inken.

In the current wave of Dungeon Synth revivalism, Tir stands aloft as a particularly transcendent entity. Following the recent release of the excellent “Urd, Skuld & Verdandi”, the Turkish outfit returns with “Mountains Redux”, a rerecorded, remixed and remastered take on the 2016 debut full-length piece “Mountains” with an extra bonus track included.

Commute Home

rhoslug

Back before we all started having to be more careful about disease, I used to commute. The commute was close to an hour and half so it left plenty of time for boredom, contemplation, and watching the scenery. I hoped to capture some of the sounds, feelings, and spirit of the commute in this album. The pure noise that is at times cacophony and at others rhythmic. The loneliness of traveling in a crowd but everyone within their own bubble. The feeling of traveling from one strange place back to a familiar place.

Enjoy this on your own commute perhaps. Take care!

It is difficult to truly list all the people that helped make this album come to life. But an incomplete list is as follows:

- My family for encouraging me to love music and make music.
- All the fantastic musicians of the Internet and Youtube, without which I never would have contemplated making an album, learning VCV Rack, and exploring generative music.
- Particular thanks should go to Red Means Recording for showcasing how he recorded an ambient album.
- Thanks for Hainbach for showing that weird, ambient music is actually beautiful and is worth putting out in the world.
- Omri Cohen for all the tutorials on VCV Rack. I would never have even tried modular without your instruction.
- My wife for loving me through all the bleep, blooping and still encouraging me to be creative. Thanks.

Ranger of the Old Woods

Zweihänder

This collection of songs is really more like two albums in one:

The first six songs are a concept piece about a ranger finding a secret area in the ancient woods where she's been a ward for years. The story is told in the lyrics. These songs start with DOS ADLIB & OPL2 sounds, progress to Roland Sound Canvas (fancy midi), and end with two SNES-inspired tracks.

The following few songs are an homage to the old sci-fi, cyberpunk, and noir games we grew up playing.

Finally we have a fun track in both the NES and DOS styles... Lastly, I included two fully symphonic tunes.

There are two tracks that feature alternate versions. I have been thinking a lot about how older soundtracks used to sound different based upon the platform or even the sound hardware used. So, I explored that a little.

I tried to limit myself to different systems or styles more so than on previous albums. The results are a bit more "purist" than usual. I cheated a couple of times with a light touch of reverb, but most of the tracks are very similar to what you would hear on the original hardware.

Here's a track list with the style/system in parenthesis.

1. Bobbit's Journey (DOS | OPL2/Adlib)
2. Rainspell (DOS | Roland Sound Canvas)
3. Secrets of the Forest Ruins (DOS | Roland Sound Canvas)
4. City Beneath the Mountain (DOS | Roland Sound Canvas)
5. Journey Through the Enchanted Chasm (SNES)
6. Even Sexy Vampires Must Die (SNES
7. My Vision is Augmented (FM Synth)
8. Private Eyes (DOS | Adlib)
9. Apparition Apprehension Agency (DOS | OPL2)
10. Autumn Snow (DOS | OPL2)
11. Dance the Light Away (NES)
12. Dance the Light Away (DOS | OPL)
13. Allure of the Dark Castle (Symphonic)
14. Even Sexy Vampires Must Die (Symphonic)

Enjoy and please leave me a review so I know which songs you enjoyed the most.

Urd, Skuld & Verdandi

After a promising debut recording in 2016, Turkish horde Tir returns three years later with a new offering entitled “Urd, Skuld & Verdandi”, an 11-track ordeal of what one could describe as classic Dungeon Synth, utterly atmospheric and evocative. Drinking from the ancient fountain led by entities such as Burzum and Mortiis, Tir portray a shadowy landscape filled with visions of mystery, an aura that embraces the cryptic and the arcane. Ethereal keyboard passages are intertwined with Folk overtones expressing the darkness and gloom of a long-forgotten past, a piercing and poignant musical and visual display.

Out on Repose Records on limited cassette and Digipak CD edition, “Urd, Skuld & Verdandi” stands as a full-on experience of powerful patterns of nature and nostalgia that will certainly take the listener on a startling journey through the unknown and beyond...

All Instruments: Oytun Bektas
Vocals: Thomas Helm (track 3 & 9)
Mixed and Mastered at Klangschmiede Studio E: Markus Stock
Memories in the Shadow lyrics: Peter Kassel
Song Of The Rain lyrics: Kahlil Gibran
Invisible Part Of Mountains lyrics: Eilthireach

As Autumn Calls

It brings me great joy to share with you the echoes of a cover song, Estatic Fear, which I recorded long ago.

Yet, time, elusive as it is, was never truly ours to hold—for in truth, it never existed at all.
