Внутренняя эмиграция (slowed & reverbed)

Surmachina

In an era of constant rush and shifting meanings, many people feel the desire to temporarily disappear from the outside world. To retreat within themselves.

This album is a melancholic, abstract reimagining of Surmachina's previous work. An attempt at "inner emigration." Music created for states, not events. For long, quiet evenings.

Surmachina is a project by a beatmaker and multi-instrumentalist from northern Moscow, incorporating classical hip-hop, noir jazz, and lo-fi aesthetics. Each release experiments with new sounds. For example, the album "Японские Заметки" ("Japanese Notes") is recorded in the format of travelogues, with warm guitars, voice recordings, and jazz melodies. And the album "Странные ритмы вечернего Подмосковья" ("Strange Rhythms of the Evening Moscow Region") is united by reflections on the metropolis and its suburbs. Occasionally, Surmachina's tracks feature a raspy saxophone and female vocals. The release “Онега” ("Onega") blends hip-hop beats, electronics, and authentic instruments. Specifically, it features recordings of the Solovetsky choir, Bulgarian and Pomor chants, and samples of the Scandinavian talharpa and the Carpathian kalyuka. In 2024, the hip-hop album "И тайное общество битмейкеров" ("And the Secret Society of Beatmakers") was released, dedicated to life in the big city. The album's main feature is the use of modern synthesizers (Arturia Microfreak, Dreadbox Typhon) and samplers (Roland sp 404, Elektron Digitakt).

In 2025, "Хождение за три моря" ("Journey Beyond Three Seas") was released—a journey album featuring the sounds of the Scandinavian talharpa (a bowed instrument), northern Russian chants, flute, and Udmurt wedding songs. All of this is thickly interwoven with pumping hip-hop rhythms and electronica.

Descent into the darkness. This mix amplifies the suspense of the original by stretching the chaotic soundscape into a terrifying crawl. The deep, booming sub-bass hits with crushing weight, while the slowed cowbell percussion feels like a distant, inevitable threat. Atmospheric, eerie, and profoundly menacing, this version is built for cruising the midnight streets when the city is empty and the danger is hidden.

Distorted Echoes (Slowed)

The original track's chaotic roar is replaced by a low, guttural growl. This slowed-down version leans into the darkness, creating a heavy and intimidating atmosphere of impending doom. It's a haunting descent into a world of raw, distorted dread—a perfect match for the chaotic force depicted on the cover art.

Shell Remnants (Slowed)

A slowed-down descent into a distorted soundscape. This version takes the original's aggressive energy and transforms it into a brooding, menacing crawl. It's the sound of a monster lumbering into view, its immense power now a slow, intimidating echo.

Nightshade Echoes (Slowed)

The chase is over, but the tension remains. This version takes the original's dark, chaotic vibe and stretches it into a haunting soundscape. The reverberating synths feel more distant and eerie, while the pounding rhythm section becomes a slow, heavy pulse. It's the soundtrack for wandering through those same neon-lit streets after the danger has passed, with a sense of lingering unease.

VHS Chaos (Slowed)

This version takes the tense encounter to a whole new level. The menacing bass and distorted lo-fi groove are stretched out and slowed down, creating a soundscape that's more eerie than energetic. It's the moment before the storm, full of suspense and dread.

Paradeigma

This album is made up of old Paradeigma tracks. It consists of two parts: in the first part, the speed of the tracks is speeded up, and in the second part, on the contrary, it is slowed down. Other effects such as reverb, pitch and filters are also used. Some tracks sounded more interesting than the originals. There is a charm of its own. Listen!
