Berlin Echo: Fluorescent Hum (12" Single)

Tinnitis

Billing themselves as "Two straight men who love to dance", Berlin Echo is a Manchester, UK electronic dance music duo. When Tinnitis acquired Marble Records' catalog, this rejected was discovered. Marble Records didn't find what they considered "biting satire" to be comedic. "Fluorescent Hum" is being released for the first time, with permission from Marc Warner. Erik Schmidt, the other half of the duo, tragically died in a car accident in 2004.

Dental Plan: Elevator (45 RPM)

No Wave musicians Dental Plan, featuring songwriter Lena Darnell on vocals, was released in late 1979. The abrisive nature of the track was lost on the A&R department; they just thought it was funny.

Francine Voss: Glamorous Tragedy (LP)

Francine Voss' Disco comedy album was released in 1979. It is a true time capsule o f the era, especially songs like "Energy Crisis Disco", "Play Me on 45", and "Streaker on The Dance Floor". Yet, fusion tracks like, "The Curler's In" and "Energy Cridis Disco", were ahead of its time. The former would perfectly fit in with the Electro Swing genre that emerged in the late 2010s and early 2020s. With a soulful voice that captures the humor while maintaining her composure, this arrived too late in Disco's lifespan to make the impact it deserved.
