Requiem for the Slaughtered Innocents

I wake up these mornings, make a coffee, turn on Al-Jazeera, and learn about the latest atrocity - children being burned alive in Gaza. So I start my day in tears.

The main theme is adapted from the andante of Scriabin's Piano Concerto in F#m. It's a sombre melody. The middle section is mine. It's effervescent, the way childhood should be - in a world that isn't rotten through and through.

Exoplanet V

Based around a dub stem made by a friend, Exoplanet V shifts gear around the 2 minute mark to become an uplifting syncopated smooth minimal groove. Structure is minimal, but the track is detailed in an IDM way.

Smorgasbass

I've dubbed this style 'basstiche', owing to its structure. Rather than bore the listener with a single bass patch, no fewer than six quite different sounds make their debut. This reflects the process of choosing the best sounds for any given track; scrolling through patches and auditioning are a big part of the overall process of putting a track together. Every choice eliminates all other contenders, some of them just as good. Another way of thinking about it would be ta kind of soundclash between bass monsters.
