Finnegan is Awake and Well

GIrilal Baars

David Bremer

David Bremer and Girilal Baars started scheming their duo a long time ago. But they were finally confronted with reality when commissioned to perform at Twisted Shout, the text-sound festival at Fylkingen in 2022. Joyce’s amazing linguistic whooplas were always part of the plan and judicious text-editing, experimenting and rehearsing later, you can now enjoy Finnegan is Awake and Well over and over in a sound system of your choice. Brought to you sans corporate sponsors, but with deep-felt gratitude to Piak and Daniel Westerlund.

Recorded live at Hökarängens Antikvariat.

LIFE

Mistrust

"LIFE" is about homelessness and is to raise awareness about the increasing number of people who are having to leave their own homes and have nowhere else to live. Whether they can no longer afford their mortgages or have been living in rented accommodation and being been told to leave by their landlords. The local authority housing teams can't help them, and they can't afford to rent privately, so they're having to stay long-term with relatives or friends.

All profits from sales of this version of "Life" will be donated to The Railway Children charity.

I am always looking for sounds to manipulate. Most of the time it doesn't matter where they are from, but most of the time I am armed with some form of recording device be it my phone, my Tascam or when using a computer an armed audio grab facility. This was the case one day with an Instagram story. R.N Fox is a New York storyteller, an excellent virtual tour guide to the city an artist and radio presenter on WMFU whether that is intentional or not and a great raconteur. Her adventures are usually interesting.

Her latest adventure was different. A careworn explanation of how she had managed to break her ribs. There was something in the careworn delivery that just seemed to fit musically with the idea of a dance track, it doesn't/shouldn't make sense but it works. Maybe that's the way the best ideas work. I built the track and got permission and here we are.

Tala

Stefaby Monk opens her Single debut with a melodrama techno track, with a dialogue between a dramatic lady asking for the answer and her partner responds "I don't any answer". A great melodramatic techno tune with acid lines undercover, great for the dance floor.
A more melodic side of her, with a male voice who claims "your name, I know me". Deep techno class.
Last track is a Beaty techno piece with lots of filter modulations anywhere and a strong bass line. A trippy minimal techno track

VVV003 / Backjumper ✮ Scorpion Democracy

Backjumper

The third release of Antistandard Records is made of unusual sounds for an apparently electronic-music-only digital label: we have the HC band Backjumper from Bari releasing their fifth studio work with this EP.

Written, recorded and performed fully by the band in one take, in their rehearsals room, "Scorpion Democracy" is the manifesto of what this is all about, standing still. 100% in your face without tricks and gimmicks.
And exclusively for Antistandard, available only in digital edition a bonus track extracted from their release show.
Loud Crew is back.

✮ Hailing from Bari, South Italy, Backjumper's still one of the most long-lived underground project. Born in 2003, they've toured relentlessly Italy and Europe opening shows for acts such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, Sick of it All, Municipal Waste, Unearth, Cancer Bats and even got the chance to play at legendary Wacken Open Air 2013 in Germany with Rammstein, Deep Purple, Motorhead and Lamb of God.
After debut EP and 2006 "Trust No1", they've released three albums from 2009 to 2014 fueling their live-thrilling machine: 2018 marks the band's comeback with this fast and furious new EP.
